The UN’s Disproportionate Focus on Israel
Systematic Delegitimization: For decades, Arab nations have led efforts at the United Nations to delegitimize Israel, excluding it from decision-making and subjecting it to relentless condemnation, revealing a clear bias in UN priorities.
UN General Assembly Bias (2015–2019): The UN General Assembly passed 96 resolutions against Israel, compared to only 7 for Syria, 5 for North Korea, 5 for Iran, and zero for China, highlighting a disproportionate focus on Israel.
2019 Resolution Disparity: In 2019, the UN General Assembly adopted 18 resolutions targeting Israel—more than the 7 resolutions combined for all other countries, despite global crises like Syria’s chemical weapons use and Myanmar’s Rohingya genocide.
UN Commission on the Status of Women: Since 2015, all four of the Commission’s condemnations have singled out Israel for its treatment of Palestinian women, ignoring severe gender-based abuses in countries like Saudi Arabia and Iran.
UN Human Rights Council (2006–2020): The Council issued 90 resolutions criticizing Israel, accounting for 42% of all country-specific criticisms, while nations like Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Iran face minimal scrutiny.
Neglected Atrocities: The UN largely overlooks grave human rights abuses, including Saudi Arabia’s public executions, China’s mass surveillance of Muslims, Iran’s persecution of LGBTQ+ individuals, Syria’s chemical weapons attacks, Myanmar’s Rohingya genocide, Brunei’s harsh Sharia laws, and North Korea’s widespread atrocities.
Distorted Priorities: In 2019, Israel, the Middle East’s only democracy, was the third most-discussed topic at the UN, surpassing discussions of human rights abuses in authoritarian regimes, indicating a campaign to delegitimize Israel rather than address global human rights equitably.
